REELS is a tape machine for Ableton Live. It captures the magic of tape, from pristine studio reels to worn cassettes and VHS.
Choose from 7 machines, dial up the drive and add some wear and colour to taste. Keep it subtle for a touch of glue on your master, or push it for all-out lofi wonkiness. It’s straightforward, lightweight, and feels like part of Live.

REELS recreates the magic of tape and lets you make it your own.
It’s not modelled on one specific machine. Instead it gives you the building blocks, 7 tape types plus drive, bias, wobble, hiss and wear, to put together your dream tape machine, from clean studio warmth to a cassette that’s seen better days.
Add weight on drums, movement on pads and keys, or a touch of glue on your master.
In a real studio there’s one tape machine, and every track runs through it. Link Groups give you a multitrack tape machine in Ableton Live.
Put REELS on every track, set them to the same Link Group, and everything stays in sync. Change the Tape Type once and your whole mix follows.
REELS Lite gives you the essence of tape for free.
