The TAPE Rack 🎛️

10 smart Macro controls make it make it super simple to dial in exactly the tape character you’d like.

  • Input & Output Gain → adjust the levels before and after tape
  • Colour → dial in some analog warmth
  • Compression → natural tape compression to smooth over your transients
  • Drive → analog style soft clipping for some extra crunch
  • Wow → add some pitch instability for that wonky lofi feel
  • Flutter → just like Wow, but a little faster and a little wonkier
  • Noise → add subtle (or not so subtle) analog hiss
  • Width → recreate old-school mono analog sounds

The Extra Bits 🛠️

TAPE is an Ableton Live Effect Rack made using only built-in Ableton devices. It is not a VST plugin and doesn't use Max For Live. You can learn more about Instrument, Drum and Effect Racks in the official Ableton documentation.

There are 2 versions of TAPE; the original version and an updated version. Each has slightly different minimum requirements:

  • Original TAPE: Ableton Live Standard or Suite 9.7+
  • Updated TAPE: Ableton Live Intro, Standard or Suite 11.1+
  • TAPE.adg (Ableton Live Rack)
